“Imagi-Nation42.png” was a participatory place-based arts project with East London unpaid-carers that set out to deconstruct, honour & rebuild what care should mean in the future. Working alongside the Carers Centre of Tower Hamlets (CCTH) we worked towards a year long project that asks the question “who will care for carers?” through costume, theatre, songwriting, storytelling, film and digital arts.
In 2021 we ran a 10 week, Arts Council supported, R&D with CCTH and through conversations/arts sessions we co-decided on exploring a space-race story, where carers beat Bezos/Musk/Branson to settle in new frontiers, reshaping the narrative of ‘the first ambassadors of Earth’. The end of the projected was celebrated with the song/performance: “Your Health is Your Wealth”, a recurrent theme in our conversations. The piece was made using sound recordings from these conversations and through experimental composition between Milou Stella, Kazuko Hohki and producer George Paris.
