Incubator 4 Anothertime (22 minutes, 2023) is a multimedia installation comprising the soft sculpture Trigger. This piece, through intensely glitched, saturated visuals and individually crafted frames, explores a non-linear journey across biomedical, microscopic, and transecological realms. Inspired by Donna Haraway's Staying with the Trouble and José Esteban Muñoz's Cruising Utopia, and grounded in personal writings on (in)fertility and collaborative research with Dr. Lizzie Reed (University of Southampton), it creates a space for discovering "life among the ruins" beyond human and non-human boundaries, inviting guests to envision queerer futures.

It was first shown as the main outcome of a year spent at Open School East as associate artist (2022-2023) in Margate, and part of the exhibition We Danced Until There Was Nothing Left, curated by Maggie Matic.

A collaboration with: Berne, George Paris, Dr. Lizzie Reed

Trigger (150 cm x 50 cm): Drawing from the lived experience of hormonal injections during infertility and IVF treatment, Trigger is the soft sculpture of a mutated syringe that interconnects motifs borrowed from the biomedical, to that of social taboos and psychological ‘triggers’ entwined in family-making.

Lizzie Reed and I recently wrote about the making of this installation in a journal article published in the latest edition of “Sexualities'“, an established international journal and an invaluable resource, publishing articles, reviews and scholarly comment on the shifting nature of human sexualities.
